Genoa have reportedly agreed terms to extend their contract with coach Alberto Gilardino to June 2026.
The tactician said that they would wait until Serie A safety was secured before discussing the future and they mathematically guaranteed another season in the top flight last week.
According to Sky Sport Italia, DAZN and others, Gilardino has given the all-clear to remain at Genoa and will put pen to paper on a two-year contract.
He had originally been the coach of the Primavera youth team until he was promoted as an interim boss in December 2022.
That proved to be an inspired decision, as he went on to secure promotion into Serie A, finishing second behind Frosinone.
The success continued this season, comfortably mid-table with 10 wins, 12 draws and 12 defeats.
Gilardino had been among the names mentioned for the Fiorentina job next season, but the former striker who turns 42 in July opted to continue this adventure at Marassi.
