Watch: Patriots' LB Makes Epic, 'Sick' Tackle
Eric Canha-USA TODAY Sports

Neither rain, nor heat ... nor vomit ... kept this New England Patriot from the swift completion of his appointed play.

Every offensive NFL playbook likely has some form of a "throw-up" play for when desperation strikes but New England defender Ronnie Perkins perhaps took that a bit too literally. During the first half of the Patriots' 2023 preseason finale against the Tennessee Titans on Friday night, Perkins vomited shortly before the Titans snapped the ball on a 3rd-and-1.

But, it appears that Perkins was feeling anything but sick after his getting sick: he recovered instantly to make the tackle on the play, stopping Titans rusher Julius Chestnut after only a 3-yard gain.

While Perkins failed to prevent the first down, his extra effort should at least score some brownie points with longtime head coach Bill Belichick, who has never been one to accept excuses. It was one of nine tackles for Perkins, behind only Calvin Munson on the New England ledger in the 23-7 defeat.

Time will tell Perkins' set to enter his third year after arriving in Foxborough as a third-round choice in 2021, makes the Patriots' original 53-man roster. If he does, he'll join the Pats in welcoming in the defending NFC champion Philadelphia Eagles on Sept. 10 at Gillette Stadium (4:25 p.m. ET, CBS).
